November 16th, 2022, remains etched in my memory – a day that marked not just my personal milestone of being sworn in as Chairman but also a new chapter for Houston County. That day was filled with significant and seemingly trivial moments that have stayed with me.
I remember donning a new suit for the occasion, only to find the pants didn’t fit quite right – a minor hiccup (later rectified) that I just rolled with because I’ve long accepted that nothing goes perfectly. And who could have thought that stretching would lead to a torn ligament? But even as I nursed my leg, my mind was already racing with plans and possibilities for our county.
These reflections bring me to the purpose of this message. Today, I am not here to list our accomplishments or to delve into the projects that are still in progress. That detailed account will be shared in the “State of Houston County” come January. Rather, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the opportunity to serve you.
This role has been the most rewarding job I've ever had. My aim has always been to represent you in a way that adds to your pride in being a citizen of Houston County. While the full story of our year's journey awaits in January, know that it's a tale of progress, setbacks, challenges met, and a shared vision for our future.
I am always here to listen to your thoughts and ideas as we continue on this journey together. Your insights and support are what drive us onward and upward.
Thank you for placing your trust in me. Here's to another year of growth and achievement for Houston County!
Onward and upward!
You are doing a great job for Houston County.
